Liposuction-Is It For You
Weight Loss Products | April 23, 2008The strides in surgery have been tremendous in the last few years - in surgery types, tools and techniques. Just to impress you, we have open, traditional, minimal, invasive types; diatherm (heat), cryosurgery (cold), laser, ultrosonic and radiofrequency tools; and stereotactic, robotic and synthetic surgical sealant (for sealing leaks in lungs) techniques. Somewhere in all of that is a process called LIPOSUCTION and that’s what we’ll really talk about. As you would guess this is one of the more drastic in the weight loss products and can be classified under rapid weight loss.
For those of you who don’t know, liposuction is a form of surgery that shapes the body by removing the excess fat - in specific areas only. The idea behind the process of liposuction is “almost too good to believe”: if you have fat you don’t like, you go to the specialist, he takes your money, and then takes up a little vacuum cannula, inserts it where the unwanted fat is and it literally “slurps out” the fat.
It may sound easy and this explanation is certainly facetious, but liposuction is not to be taken lightly just for vanity’s sake. Depending on the amount of fat removed, and your physical condition, not to mention the skill of the specialist, this process can range from minor to major, not excluding death.
If you’re serious about having the treatment, you may be interested in just a brief discussion about methods of extracting your unwanted fat. Naturally, you will do considerably more research before embarking on this liposuction path, but for now I’ll fill you in with some details. Now this will burst a bubble: liposuction will NOT remove cellulite; it’s not for overall weight loss; it’s not for those whose skin has lost elasticity; and they do take pictures before, with all kinds of drawings on the area, as well as after the surgery.
Your specialist will no doubt explain the options you have for this type of surgery, depending on your unique situation and the surgeon’s choice of techniques. Some procedures may be done at the office, others require overnight hospitalization. We’ll begin with the most commonly used method called Tumescent liposuction which begins after initial preparations, one of which may be an IV, with an injection of a fluid composed of salt water, an anesthetic, and a blood vessel constricting drug. After this, the doctor cuts, inserts a cannula (tube) about the width of a pen and connected to a vacuum, under the skin and it begins to slurp away. Goodbye fat!
Sometimes, at the discretion of the physician, UAL or ultrasound-assisted liposuction is used for the purpose of breaking down and liquefying the fat. While this allows for easier removal of the fat, it is also more prone to causing damage to the nerves and burning the skin. And the newest of procedures is the Powered liposuction with slightly modified use of the cannula which usually produces less pain and little or no swelling.
As with any surgical procedure, you will make proper preparations before proceeding, surely. Your doctor needs to know about your health history, your medications, and don’t forget the natural substances, which is very important. It’s advisable that you ask any questions floating around in your mind, as well as expressing your fears. And I might warn against insisting on a particular procedure that your doctor advises against. Doctor knows best!
There are also other procedures on the medical market that you may wish to research. In a sense this is a marketable product you’re researching, one of the most important ones for your health; therefore it is imperative that you do your homework, know what you’re getting into, and then do it with a smile on your lips and hope in your heart. As you can see this procedure should be researched more that say a weight loss diet pill or an easy weight loss program.
